Professor from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology awarded a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship 27.01.2026 14:48

Piotr Sulikowski, PhD, Assoc. Prof. received Fulbright STEM Impact Award and soon he is going to start a study visit at Harvard University – one of the institutions at the very top of the world university rankings.

 

Piotr Sulikowski, PhD, Assoc. Prof. representing the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology at ZUT is among the Fulbright STEM Impact Award 2026 winners. The scholarship was granted by the decision of the Board of the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission and J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board within the framework of the program promoting scientists experienced in managing research projects in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). 

Prof. Sulikowski scholarship will be realized at Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS). The research will focus on responsible designing artificial intelligence interfaces. The program comprises also expanding the knowledge of structure and financing of American research institutions, commercialization of research results and preparing grant applications in international environment. 

While staying in the US from March till May 2026 prof. Sulikowski will take part in study visits, laboratory meetings and scientific advice at Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Boston University. He will develop competences in large-scale experiments designing and behavioral analytics. Also, he will deepen his experience in interdisciplinary research team cooperation in the fields of Human-AI Interaction (HAX) and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). 

Prof. Sulikowski works at the Department of Information Systems Engineering at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology at ZUT, where he develops research on artificial intelligence and human-computer interactions. He is the founder and the director of the School of Eagles at ZUT, dedicated to outstanding students, and he is the leader of interinstitutional Customer Intelligence Research Team, realizing innovative projects in the field of data analytics and HAX. 

Last year prof. Sulikowski was appointed to the Steering Committee of NCBR INFOSTRATEG strategic program – one of the key national programs in artificial intelligence development with the budget of PLN 840 million. Prof. Sulikowski scientific achievements include internships at Stanford University, IBM TJ Watson Research Center and Fraunhofer Center, as well as expert activities at the national level. 

In this year Fulbright STEM Impact Award edition competed 14 researchers representing Polish institutions active in the field of STEM. The competition procedure comprised candidates' merit evaluation developed by three independent international experts and interviews with the candidates, whose applications were given the highest notes. 

The Fulbright Program belongs to the most reputable international academic and cultural exchange initiatives. It brings together the top scientists and institutions in the whole world and also reinforces global research cooperation. In Poland in charge of the program administration is the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission and the financing comes from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and from the U.S. Department of State.
