Professor Wiesław Skrzypczak appointed by the Minister to the Polish Accreditation Committee 07.01.2020 10:09

Jarosław Gowin, Minister of Science and Higher Education handed nominations to the new members of the Polish Accreditation Committee. Nomination for a member of the Committee was received by prof. Wiesław Skrzypczak, employee of the Department of Physiology, Cytobiology and Proteomics at the Faculty of Biotechnology and Animal Husbandry WPUT.

The primary objectives of the Committee’s operations are the care for the observance of higher education quality standards following the best models adopted in European and global education area and providing support for public and non-public higher education institutions in the process of enhancing the quality of education and building quality culture.

These actions aim to ensure graduates of Polish higher education institutions top position on the domestic and international labour market and to boost the competitiveness of Polish HEIs as European class institutions.

In the Law on Higher Education and Science, the role of the Polish Accreditation Commission remains crucial. PKA is the primary guarantor of the quality of education in higher education. However, it should be remembered that such strong position of this institution is associated with great responsibility. The Committee decisions significantly affecting the functioning of each university in Poland, to a large extent also shape the functioning of the entire higher education system. I would like new PKA members to remember this all the time while they were in office - stressed Minister Jarosław Gowin.

On December 5, 2019, the Minister of Science and Higher Education – Jarosław Gowin appointed the Polish Accreditation Commission for the term 2020-2023. The PKA of the sixth term was 86 people. Its members were appointed from among candidates proposed by universities, the Main Council of Science and Higher Education, rectors’ conferences, the PKA presidium, the Students’ Parliament of the Republic of Poland, national scientific associations and employers’ organizations. The 6th term of office of PKA begins on January 1, 2020 and lasts 4 years.
