European quality certificates for West Pomeranian University of Technology, Szczecin. 22.02.2019 15:15

Two majors at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, namely material engineering and transport, obtained the European quality certificate of EUR-ACE Label awarded by the Accreditation Commission of Universities of Technology.

This is a certificate developed by the European Network for Engineering Accreditation. This network brings together European organizations involved in training of engineers. EUR-ACE® Label is certificate awarded for a period of 5 years. The university obtains additional verification and confirmation of the high-quality of its engineering degree programme, and that training is carried out in accordance with the standards set by professional organizations, and that the accredited engineering degree programme is formed around learning outcomes. It serves also as a good testament to the quality of the completed 1st cycle studies programme when qualifying 2nd cycle studies, and later on testifying to the quality of the completed 2nd cycle studies programme when qualifying doctoral programmes. In turn, employers gain assurance that the candidate's competences in terms of knowledge, understanding and practical skills are in line with international standards in the field of engineering degree programmes in accordance with accepted European standards and principles.

The goals that the faculty achieved by obtaining certificates are:

• verification of high-quality engineering degree programme in accordance with standards set by national and international professional organizations,

• gradual improvement of the faculty skills in the field of modern teaching methods and familiarisation (through training) with the formal and legal procedures of the Bologna process,

• maintaining a didactic base at a very high level (didactic rooms, laboratory equipment, IT infrastructure, etc.) and improving the organization and management of the didactic process,

• publicly available information to potential students that the program is EUR-ACE ®Label certified.

It is important to note that the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics obtained financing for applying for a certificate from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as part of the project "Foreign accreditations". The project is financed from EU funds under the Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development.

WPUT intends to obtain further certificates.
