Laurates of the 4th edition of the Samsung LABO program for students 27.06.2018 14:28

The Samsung LABO program, carried out at the West Pomeranian University of Technology, enjoys unflagging popularity among students.

The 4th edition has just come to an end; independent jurors have already chosen new laureates. 

The need for cooperation between science and business is enormous. The Samsung LABO program implemented at the West Pomeranian University of Technology proves that. Intended as an operation to facilitate students starting their professional life, it has become a source of ideas and projects that local entrepreneurs express real interest in.

This year, 37 students participating in the program faced specific challenges submitted by organizations from the region - companies, associations, offices. The task of Samsung LABO participants was to develop applications that will help solve existing problems and facilitate the operations of the payer. As a result, 11 such solutions were created. From this number, an independent jury of representatives of university and partner companies, decided to distinguish the following solutions. 

1st place - Rambler
An application dedicated to pilots and tour guides. You can quickly and easily get in touch with the members of the tourist group and create and share a trip plan or post with it. Authors of the application are students of the third year of Computer Science at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology at West Pomeranian University of Technology, Szczecin ( ZUT ): Agata Nowalany, Patryk Szmurło and Maciej Sowa. 

2nd place - CleverTracker
Like the previous one, the application simplifies the work of the pilot or tourist guide. It allows you to quickly contact the guide with a group of tourists, as well as book a seat on the bus or room in a hotel. Its authors are students of the third year of Information and Communications Technology at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering: Jarosław Budzyński, Damian Panasiuk, Kamil Marszał and Łukasz Wiśniewski. 

III place - GYM4YOU
It is a mobile application whose main goal is to provide potential users with simple and compact solutions in the field of gym search, personal trainers and nutritionists. Its authors are students of the third year of Information and Communications Technology at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering: Marcin Niewczas, Kuba Giwojno and Paweł Kardaś.

In fact, all participants of the Samsung LABO program are the winners. In the framework of meetings, they were able to acquire a number of specific skills that will surely pay off during their professional careers. Participants of Samsung LABO, learned how to create a professional business plan, basic secrets of running a business, where to acquire funds to finance the implementation of their ideas. In addition, as part of the volunteer mentoring, Samsung employees, including, for example, Olaf Krynicki - Samsung's spokesperson, Sylwia Czaio - an e-commerce expert, and Kamil Grondys from the R & D center conducted classes in social media communication, creating a landing page or Tizen systems and SAP.

Samsung LABO was created as a result of a three-party agreement between Samsung, the West Pomeranian University of Technology and regional authorities. The task is to develop strategic digital competences among students and to build a knowledge-based economy. The lectures program was developed mutually by Samsung experts and the company's R & D center, representatives of the university and outside experts acquired for cooperation and conducting lectures. The first edition of the project took place in the academic year 2014/2015.
