Team of our scientists awarded during the R&D Impact gala 05.07.2022 11:38

In the Gdańsk business centre - Olivia Business Centre, 34 winners from Polish research centres were awarded. Among them was prof. Urszula Narkiewicz from the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering, who received an award for developing an innovative technology of CO2 capture from flue gases and its further use.

On behalf of the research team of the "PhotoRed" project, the award was received by prof. Iwona Pełech. The awards granted during the ceremony honoured the authors of outstanding technological and social projects, focused on the promotion and dissemination of their activities.

The PhotoRed project is a continuation of the Polish-Norwegian cooperation that began in 2014 thanks to the SolSorb project. From the beginning, the cooperation has been carried out in the same consortium consisting of: West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin (ZUT), University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) and SINTEF (AS Industry and AS Ocean). PhotoRed is being carried out under the supervision of prof. Urszula Narkiewicz.

Many research teams around the world deal with the subject of carbon dioxide capture and processing. SolSorb and PhotoRed are responding to environmental problems as the continued greenhouse gases emission contributes to global warming and other severe changes. The promotional aspect is also an important element of the project. It is not only about the results themselves, but also about raising public awareness of topics related to ecology.

The gala was organized by the R&D Promotion agency - the first interactive agency on the Polish market specializing solely in the promotion of research, innovation and development. It is made up of specialists with many years of experience in building an image in the media of innovative solutions.

Congratulations!
