On Monday, November 22, at the Gdańsk University of Technology, the 12th session of the Maritime Convention was held, during which a scientific consortium was established to work for the development of offshore wind energy.
An agreement in this matter was signed by the rectors of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, the Maritime University of Szczecin, the University of Szczecin, the Koszalin University of Technology, the Federation of Military Academies (Naval Academy and Aviation Military Academy), Gdańsk University of Technology, University of Gdańsk, and Gdynia Maritime University.
The “Science for the Sea” consortium consists of universities that educate and conduct scientific research in areas related to the sea and intend to consolidate their activities for the development of offshore wind energy.
Signed declaration stipulates consultancy at the investment preparation stage, scientific supervision at the stage of evaluation of submitted offers and during the construction phase, operation, diagnostics and monitoring, management, durability of infrastructure, devices and installations, management of offshore wind farms and assumptions for their design.
During the Convention the Independence Centenary Medals were awarded. This distinction is awarded to people of merit for the region who contribute to strengthening the sovereignty, independence, cultural identity, and material prosperity of the Republic of Poland.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki awarded the medals to:
- Rector of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, Professor Jacek Wróbel
- Rector of the Koszalin University of Technology, Professor Danuta Zawadzka
- Rector of the Gdynia Maritime University, Capt. Adam Weintrit
- President of the Management Board of Remontowa Holding S.A. Adam Franciszek Ruszkowski.
