The West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin has its own animal facility 24.07.2020 10:17

In mid-July construction of the university animal facility for the Faculty of Biotechnology and Animal Husbandry, located near the intersection of Niemierzyńska with Paul VI was completed.

From October, students of the faculty will participate in practical classes with sheep, goats, emus, hens, guinea fowl, peacocks, pigeons and bees. Direct contact with animals will enable them to learn about the methods of maintenance, caring and assessing the condition of animals.

The implemented study programs include field classes and apprenticeships in typical livestock farms. Such trips are not always possible. Having an animal facility on site will certainly contribute to making the classes more attractive and improving the quality of education - explains professor Arkadiusz Pietruszka, Dean of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Animal Husbandry of the West Pomeranian University of Technology.

The animal facility is to serve mainly university students, but the faculty authorities plan to make it also available to students of primary and secondary schools and residents of Szczecin.

The entire facility as well as the animal enclosure have been prepared for safe sightseeing of our university specimens - announces professor Arkadiusz Pietruszka.

The animal facility cost the university 6.1 million PLN.
