ZUT on the Polish Map of Research Infrastructure. 16.04.2021 08:44

Eight new laboratories equipped with modern research infrastructure. Professor Jacek Wróbel, the rector of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin decided to appoint an innovative place in West Pomerania, which will be part of the structure of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin. The cost of the entire project is PLN 61.5 million.

Thanks to the rich infrastructure of the Centre, located in the buildings of the Nanotechnology Didactic and Research Centre and the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering of the West Pomeranian University of Technology of Szczecin, scientists and external entities conducting R&D&I activity (research, development, innovation) will have access to modern equipment and scientific knowledge - explains prof. Rafał Rakoczy, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering of the West Pomeranian University of Technology

The Centre for Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Processes Engineering will be equipped with the most modern research infrastructure, offering open access to microscopic, spectroscopic and analytical techniques in the field of scientific research and R&D&I works related to engineering and technical sciences, in particular materials science and chemical engineering. .

The Centre's strategy is based on the so-called "knowledge triangle" which highlights the need for an integrated approach to research, innovation and teaching. Its purpose is to support the development of the socio-economic environment and technology transfer - says prof. Rafał Rakoczy.

As part of the concept, the most advanced microscope in the world, which costs almost PLN 20 million will be purchased. We can say without hesitation that it will be the best microscope in the country. Looking at the projects that we are implementing, no such equipment will be available at any Polish university for the next few years - says prof. Rafał Rakoczy.

Spectra 300 S/TEM has the highest resolution to visualize the morphology and structure of modern materials developed by scientists from ZUT and has the potential to store and generate energy. In addition to the microscope we plan to purchase seventeen other devices for over twenty-two million zlotys - he adds.

The Centre will undertake initiatives in the field of knowledge transfer as part of the process and product innovation and will be a research base for enterprises in which R&D units have not been developed. A commercial offer for entrepreneurs is planned, including a comprehensive set of modern research services tailored to their needs.

The Centre for Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Processes Engineering will also provide knowledge transfer for external entities through provided research and laboratory services, implementation of contract research for enterprises and for the public sphere, consultations, expert opinions, exchange of knowledge between entities. These services will be specially tailored to the needs of companies and institutions of the public and private sector - explains prof. Rafał Rakoczy.
